Dear Urban Sketcher Regional Admins,

We regret to inform you that the Ave Maria University exhibition has had to be cancelled due to a number of factors that resulted in a very short deadline. We're disappointed, as we're sure you are too. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. While this particular show is cancelled, Urban Sketchers does plan to host another exhibition in future.

Thank you so much for your understanding and for your assistance in sharing this information. Your engagement and discussion about the exhibit was spirited, and I appreciated hearing your excitement, questions, enthusiasm, and concerns.   

The work you do as regional administrators, to share the joy of urban sketching and build community in your local chapters, is a key element of making our Urban Sketchers community so wonderful!

The USk board is pleased to invite urban sketchers to submit sketches for an upcoming USk group exhibition at Ave Maria University in Ave Maria, Florida, USA. The university seeks images that portray the motto of Urban Sketchers—we show the world, one drawing at a time.

The exhibition will run from November through February 2018 in the Canizaro Exhibit Gallery at Ave Maria University. This exhibit is one of several that will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Urban Sketchers.

Please submit up to three images that highlight life in your neighborhood/city/country.
International Deadline: 4 October 2017 23:59 CDT.

Die Leitung der Urban Sketchers ist erfreut darüber alle Urban Sketchers dazu einzuladen Zeichnungen für eine geplante internationale USk Ausstellung einzureichen. Die Ausstellung findet an der Ave Maria University in Ave Marie, Florida, USA statt.
Die Universität sucht Bilder die das Motto der Urban Sketchers - "die Welt zu zeigen, Zeichnung für Zeichnung" sehr gut präsentieren.
Die Ausstellung wird von November bis Februar 2018 in der Canizaro Exhibit Gallery in der Ave Maria Universität stattfinden.

Museum 5 Kontinente - Myanmar

Am Samstag gab es ein kleines Sketcher Treffen im Museum 5 Kontinente. Dort ist grad eine Ausstellung über Myanmar. Mir hat diese Ausstellung sehr gut gefallen. 

Besonders gefallen mir die Marionetten Puppen, die ich natürlich gezeichnet habe.

Was für eine schöne Stimmung in diesem kleinen Raum. Auf einem Bildschirm laufen ständig Filme mit den Puppen. Die Musik und dazu das Geklappere der hölzernen Puppen fand ich sehr meditativ. Ich hör es jetzt noch ...

2017 - Travelling in Japan

2017/08 - Japan - Kyoto University Clock Tower, where I spent an afternoon sipping coffee thinking back to the days when I had enjoyed life there as a foreign student. The university has changed considerably since then - the clock tower has not...and so I painted it in vivid colors... /// Materials: FABER-CASTELL PITT Artist pens (black), Schmincke watercolors, Faber-Castell Watercolour Pencils Albrecht Duerer and Mitsubishi POSCA UNI for densening the colors, White Gouache (for the same purpose); Paper: HAHNEMUEHLE sketch book A4 (portrait), 120 g/m2 - heavily worked through...the paper started to dissolve - but it did not tear - lucky me, sketch time appr. 1.5 hrs;

2017/08 - Japan - Kyushu - Usa-City; Usa-City displays two Zero fighter aircraft from WW II - one is real another is a mock up for a Japanese movie, playing in that area. Usa-City had a long tarmac for "Kamikaze"-take offs during the past days of WW II - a pretty sad part of history. 2017/08 - Japan - Okinawa; Naha-City -  "SHURI-jo" (castle); Here is one of the most famous castles in Japan. Unfortunately it had been burned down during an air raid in WW II, since it had been a command base of the Japanese Military in that area - but after WW II it was rebuilt perfectly. The drawing shows stamps from a "stamp rallye" together with a mystical lion statue and a view from the castle over Naha-City to the sea ... /// Materials: FABER-CASTELL PITT Artist pens (black), Schmincke watercolors; Paper: HAHNEMUEHLE sketch book A4 (portrait), 120 g/m2, sketch time appr. 45 min;

2017/08 - Japan - Kyushu and Tokyo; The German locomotive had been in operation early in the 19th century and found it's final station at "Usa-Jingu" (Usa-shrine) in Kyushu, southern Japan...where it still contrasts with the surrounding traditional Usa-Shrine buildings. I had time in the morning, thought about sketching the shrine - but liked the sun's reflections on the black iron of the locomotive...and so it became the locomotive rather than the shrine. I'll sketch that next time... Quick and Dirty passt zu mir. Ich befinde mich allerdings noch auf der Suche zwischen "too quick" und "dirty enough"...

Neuer Facebook Admin

Hallo liebe Zeichner,
Henning Janssen wird zukünftig die Urban Sketchers Munich Facebook Gruppe administrieren. Falls Ihr Fragen innerhalb Facebook habt, könnt Ihr euch zukünftig an ihn wenden. Ich werde weiterhin zu den Treffen kommen, dann aber nur als Zeichnerin und wahrscheinlich auch nicht mehr so regelmäßig. Mit der Organisation der monatlichen Treffen habe ich nichts mehr zu tun. Die Treffen veranstaltet zukünftig Karo Köhler. Morgen wird es kein Treffen geben, weil viele in Eutin beim Treffen der Deutschsprachigen Urban Sketchers sind. Ich bedanke mich bei euch für die Herzlichkeit, die Ihr mir entgegen gebracht habt. Ich freue mich auf die nächsten Treffen, an denen ich mit Ruhe und Gelassenheit teilnehmen kann.
